Washington is in the final stages of negotiations with Paramount for Gladiator 2, and Washington and Scott, who previously worked together on American Gangster, are on the verge of another collaboration, according to sources close to Paramount.

Gladiator 2 is said to follow the story of Lucius, the son of Lucilla played by Connie Nielsen and the niece of Commodus played by Joaquin Phoenix.
