Nick Offerman, who plays Bill in the third episode of The Last of Us, says he hasn’t played a video game in over 25 years and blames Banjo-Kazooie.
In the latest episode of Jimmy Kimmel’s TV talk show, Nick Offerman talked about his performance in the third episode of The Last of Us series. Pointing out that the series is named after the game series from which it was adapted, Kimmel asked Offerman if he plays video games in his personal life. Offerman replied, “No, the last game I played was 25 years ago.”
He further explained that “I am generally a very good-natured person.” But many years ago, I was involved in a video game called Banjo-Kazooie for a few weeks, and after two weeks it was a tense and disturbing experience for me. After that it’s over and you say to yourself “yes I won” then you immediately come to yourself and say “what have I done with my life”.
After that I decided to never do that and now luckily games like The Last of Us “They turned out so well that I think I could stay in a basement and not even leave the house to audition for a series like this.”
Offerman went on to say that if it wasn’t for his wife, he might not have accepted this role in the Last of Us series at all.
“Craig Mazin sent me the script and I just didn’t have time in my calendar to accept it. Then my wonderful wife read it and said, “You’re going to Calgary, mate.” have fun. You have to accept this job.”
Offerman played an important role in the third episode of the series and his acting has been praised. In this episode, Bill and Frank are introduced as two pandemic survivors living in their quarantined town.
Offerman is not the only actor of this series who has not yet played The Last of Us. Pedro Pascal and Bela Ramsay, the main actors of this series, had not experienced the source game of its adaptation while preparing for this work.
