The Dimension 9300 will likely have four ultra-powerful cores

MediaTek’s flagship chips have made significant progress in recent years, and it looks like their next generation will experience a big leap. According to new rumors, the Dimension 9300 will be equipped with two or four Cortex-X4 cores, which could be a big challenge for Qualcomm and its flagship Snapdragon 8 generation 3 chip.

MediaTek, which recently unveiled the Dimension 9200 Plus chip, is preparing to introduce the next generation of its flagship chip later this year. Now we see the publication of two different reports about the configuration of this chip, in both cases, it will have more super powerful cores than the Qualcomm chip.

Using multiple Cortex-X4 cores in Dimension 9300

One of the sources of the world of technology called Revegnus in a tweet It has been claimed that Dimension 9200 will be equipped with 8 cores with 2 + 4 + 2 core configuration, of which two powerful cores will be Cortex-X4. In contrast, the 1st generation Snapdragon 8 arrives with a 1 + 5 + 2 core configuration, which includes a Cortex-X4 core. Of course, another sample of this chip with two Cortex-X4 cores is also coming.

If you think that two Cortex-X4 cores don’t give you the power you need, another rumor has announced four Cortex-X4 cores in the Dimension 9300. A source called Digital Chatter on the Chinese social network Weibo claims that MediaTek’s next flagship chip will use two clusters and a total of 8 cores.

One of these clusters will contain 4 Cortex-X4 cores and the other cluster will likely have 4 Cortex-A720 cores. These two types of cores have not yet been introduced by ARM. In addition, according to the claim of this source, there will be no Cortex-A5XX cores in the Dimensity 9300.

Although MediaTek’s next flagship chip will be manufactured with TSMC’s N4P lithography, using this amount of ultra-powerful cores can make thermal management a big pain. It is possible that Dimension 9300 will arrive in two versions.

The first version of this chip with 2 Cortex-X4 cores and low-power cores is likely to be used in smartphones. The second version may be developed for tablets or laptops. In any case, it seems that this year we will see an interesting competition between MediaTek and Qualcomm.
