The face of a bear on Mars! + Photo

Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter On December 12 (November 21), from approx 250 km Above the surface of Mars, it saw a strange sight, the image of which has now been released: Face One Bear which looks up from the red planet’s crust.

According to a statement from the University of Arizona about the image, the bear’s mouth cavity consists of a collapsed V-shaped structure, and its facial outline could be due to the deposition of sediment from an underground impact crater. In the researchers’ statement, it is also said that the place of the bear’s nose and mouth may have been formed by a volcanic or mud vent, so the material placed on the opening could be lava or mud.

Strange structures on Mars

This is not the first time that strange structures have been seen on Mars. In 1976, NASA’s Viking 1 spacecraft in a region of Mars called Cydonia spotted an eerie rock about 3 kilometers long that resembled a human face. However, images taken by the Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) in 2001 showed that the human face was mostly visible due to Viking 1’s relatively low resolution.

All these cases are psychologically considered Pareidolia, which refers to the tendency of humans to see familiar objects in other shapes and forms.

The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which has been responsible for releasing strange images for some time now, recently released another image that shows the red planet’s surface in the form of hills. Last month, in another article entitled “Watch the best photos taken of Mars in 2022”, we reviewed the amazing photos taken of the Red Planet in the past year.

Considering that Mars is constantly monitored by scientists, it is not surprising that these strange structures can be seen on the surface of the red planet and its rocks.
