Since the issue of car import became serious in the next few months, whispers of importing Renault Kwid to the country from India and Brazil were heard, but in a press conference yesterday, the spokesman of the Ministry of Security rejected the import of cars from India and Brazil. Meanwhile, at the two-week exhibition on the transformation of the automotive industry, both Iran Khodro and Saipa groups announced that the release of the domestic version of the Renault Kwid within the next year is on the agenda.

Cars, like other goods, are subject to special rules and regulations for entering the country, which include registering an order with the Ministry of Security, having an after-sales service representative, and complying with legal requirements, among them. Also, in addition to paying duties and customs duties, car import is subject to its own special duties with different numbers.

These cases are stated while a member of the Islamic Council’s Industries and Mines Commission announced about the floating tolls for car imports: “If it is possible, by setting floating tolls for imported cars, the toll rate will be increased and the 300 million car will be 700 million. If we sell to the people, we should definitely return and bow down to Pride.”

Lotfollah Siahkoli said about the by-laws written for car import: Fortunately, the law on organizing the car market was approved in the parliament, and based on Article 4 of this law, which is assigned a duty on car imports, the government had the duty to prepare a by-law for the car import mechanism. . Now this bylaw has been prepared, but based on what I have read, this bylaw has flaws.

While thanking the government for preparing this regulation, he stated that he wished the parliament would be consulted in preparing the regulation, and stated: One of the problems of the automobile import regulation is that it mostly focuses on the import of cars under $10,000. Cars under $10,000 are not what our people want. The public and young people of our country like to have a good car. A good car is different from a luxury car. Although some people may be interested in driving a luxury car, a solution should be considered for them to pay the tolls and taxes and then drive a luxury car.

This member of the Majlis Industries Commission stated: A car under 10 thousand dollars is not a good car. Our opinion is that the import duties of 80% of the cars should be under $25,000 and the import duties of 20% should be above $25,000. But cars worth less than $25,000 should be imported with customs duties of 10-20% and the rest with stepped duties of 200% or 300%. Anyone who wants to drive a luxury car has to pay for it. This income should also be used to increase the quality of domestic cars.

The representative of Qazvin people in the Islamic Council stated: A car must guarantee the lives of its passengers. In the world, in accidents, the least amount of damage is done to the passengers of cars, but this is not the case in our country.

He further emphasized: We cannot tell people that you have no right to drive a good and quality car, people have the right to choose and we must give this choice to the people.

This member of the Parliament’s Industries Commission said: The second problem of the car import regulations is related to the customs duties of imported cars. Now the customs duties of cars below 20,000 dollars have been floated, it is clear that if the customs duties of these imported cars are high, we should bow down to Pride. We have to go to Pride service again and say sorry that we disrespected you, you are a very nice car. Let’s go back and use a low-quality car. Determining floating tolls for imported cars conveys this concept.

These cases are raised in the situation that despite the end of September, the exact details of the regulations for importing cars to the country have not been announced and there are even doubts regarding the implementation of these regulations due to the non-finalization of the JCPOA agreement.
