Embracer Group has confirmed that five new games from The Lord of the Rings IP will be released in the next financial year between April 2023 and March 2024.
In August of last year, Embracer Group announced that it was buying the Middle-earth series and The Lord of the Rings IP. The company announced at that time that it has a long-term view of this IP and wants to use it in the best way. While not many details of Embracer’s plans for the Lord of the Rings IP have been revealed yet, the company seems to have announced some short-term plans.
Embracer Group confirmed in its latest quarterly financial report that it will prepare five games from The Lord of the Rings series for release in the 2023-2024 fiscal year. This fiscal year will be from April 2023 to March 2024, and the announced games will be developed by Ambrisser’s external partners.
Ambrisser explained: “The acquisition of this franchise created a lot of interest among in-house developers and external partners to develop Lord of the Rings products in various media formats. Currently, five games are under development by our foreign partners and will be released in the fiscal year 2023-2024.
So far, four of these five titles in development have been officially announced, including The Lord of the Rings: Gollum from Daedalic Studio and Nacon, the mobile game The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth from Electronic Arts, the co-op game and The survival of The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is from Free Range Games studio and North Beach Games publishing company, and the unnamed Middle-earth game is from Weta Workshop studio and Private Division publishing company.
