There are many reasons why this decision is expected. The most important thing is that the non-Ti model of the 4070 graphics card should be introduced with a cut-down version of the AD104 GPU, while the RTX 4080 12GB has a full version of this GPU and is logically suitable for a higher tier. This configuration is usually seen in the Ti series of Nvidia graphics cards.
But the RTX 4070 Ti graphics card is expected to replace the RTX 4080 12GB with no change in specs. This means that this card has a GPU consisting of 7680 CUDA cores with 12GB of GDDR6X memory. The only thing left is the price of this product, which has not been announced yet. However, considering the significant difference of 24-30% in the performance of RTX 4080 12GB graphics card with its 16GB version, its price should be much lower than this model.
