Last year, Leica brand introduced its first smartphone and now its next version titled Leica Leitz Phone 2 Has been introduced. In the following, we will review the specifications, features and price of this device.
Just like the first generation of this device, the Leica Leitz Phone 2 also borrows most of its hardware specifications from the Sharp Aquos R7. However, Leica has used several additional hardware optimizations and software tweaks in this new phone to set it apart from Sharp’s biggest and best 2022 phone.
Specifications of the new Leica phone
The new Leica phone features a flat 6.6-inch IGZO OLED display with a refresh rate of 240 Hz, housed in a sculpted frame with smooth, grooved edges. This feature makes the Leica Leitz Phone 2 look quite industrial compared to other Android phones. Also, the weight of this device is only 211 grams.
Inside, the device is powered by Qualcomm’s slightly older 8th generation Snapdragon processor, paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 1TB via microSD card. Also, this device uses a 5000 mAh battery, which takes approximately 100 minutes to fully charge through a USB-C cable.
The main point of this device is the huge 1-inch and 47.2 megapixel sensor located on the back panel of the device. This camera offers users an effective focal length of 19mm with a maximum aperture of f1.9 and also allows for 8K video recording. A 1.9-megapixel portrait sensor is also included in the device, which will probably help when adding bokeh effects. The new phone also supports a Leica-branded magnetic lens cap that protects the camera system when not in use.
There is also a 16-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls in the hole above the device’s display.
The Lecia Leitz Phone 2 runs on Android 12 and there is no information on whether it will support Android 13. It can also be expected that this device will include a number of software optimizations, including proprietary Leica filters, although this has not yet been specified.
