You might not believe that the beautiful Audrey Hepburn, the actress known for such classics as “Roman Holiday” and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” suffered from hunger as a child, but it is true. Hepburn enjoys helping others because of her experience in such situations. He used to say: “The best thing you can keep in life is each other.”
1. He had experienced hunger.
Audrey Hepburn’s emaciation was long rumored to be due to an eating disorder, but her family insists that her famously slim figure was actually the result of growing up during tough times. During the years 1939-1945, he had seen many hardships.
2. He was a special ambassador for UNICEF.
As a UNICEF ambassador, Hepburn traveled to more than 20 countries. Hepburn visited places like Turkey, Ecuador, Honduras, Sudan, Bangladesh and Somalia where children and families needed food, clean water and vaccinations. He traveled and raised money for UNICEF using his name and image to promote the need for food aid.

Hepburn’s son, Luca Dotti, said his mother didn’t understand why people thought she was beautiful. “She thought she had a big nose and big legs and was very skinny,” Doty said. She would look in the mirror and say, “I don’t understand why people see me as beautiful.”
5. Audrey Hepburn is not her real name.
Hepburn was not her real last name either. She was born Audrey Kathleen Ruston and her family named her Adriante.
6. He did not consider himself a particular style symbol.
He once said: “I never see myself as an icon. What is in other people’s mind is not in my mind. “I’m just doing my job.”
He also considered his style quite casual. “My appearance is accessible to everyone. “With tied hair, big sunglasses and a black dress, any woman can look like me.”
7. He was awarded the Freedom Medal.
In 1992, Hepburn was awarded the Medal of Freedom, the United States’ highest civilian honor, as an actress and activist. At the ceremony, Hepburn was eulogized, but was unable to attend due to illness. He passed away the following year.
